A local activist and a young future mayor argue about the best way forward for their poor suburb. The original French title of the project was supposed to be “Les Indésirables” before it was changed. In the second film of the director of “The Open”, shot in 2019, we still have Alexis Manenti and Steve Chencheu, but in other roles. From the police Manenti becomes the mayor, and from the local boss Chiencheu becomes an important member of the city council… This is not a social crime drama, but just a social drama, just remove the criminal element. This is simply an accusation against real events, a real tragedy. Not everyone agrees with the message of this film. The government’s immigration strategy is at the heart of this story. If you want to get away from your problems, if you want to dream, have hope for the future, this film is not for you. But if you have the courage to open your eyes and see the true and ugly face of the modern world, modern society, this film is the best opportunity for you. Very painful, touching and disturbing finale. Unforgettable.
